| What: |
The
16th annual Komen Hawaii Race for the Cure® raises
awareness and money for breast
cancer research, education, screening, and treatment. |
| Where: |
Kapi’olani
Park, Honolulu, HI. The Bandstand is located near the intersection
of Monsarrat Ave. and Kalakaua Ave. |
| When: |
Sunday,
October 17, 2010 |
| Why: |
The Komen Hawai’i
Race For The Cure® is dedicated to eradicating breast cancer
as a life threatening disease. Breast cancer is the leading cause
of death of women between the ages of 40 and 59, and in Hawai’i,
especially among native Hawaiians and Filipinas. |
| How: |
- Register as a team
and help us achieve our goal.
- Circulate Race entry forms and information
about the Race.
- Encourage team members to register online at www.komenhawaii.org.
- Be
sure they know exact team name and team captain’s name.
- Send
e-mails to potential team members.
- If possible, publicize the
event through newsletters and through office memos.
- Display race
posters in work areas.
- Remind breast cancer survivors they can
receive special recognition at the race.

| Who: |
Any
business, hospital, family, club, agency, school, church or other
community group can form a team. |
| Team: |
A team is a group of individuals of any size who want to participate
in the Race
together (they don’t have to run/walk together!).
Each team member pays an entry fee.
|
| Deadline: |
Online
registration is the most efficient way
of registering. In order to register online as part of a team,
each participant must know their specific team name and team
captain's name.
If mailing your team registration and entries, the postmark deadline
is Thursday, September 30, 2010. Make checks
